SLOGGI AIDS RAINFOREST CONSERVATION WITH THE LAUNCH OF ITS 2011 LOVE WORLD CAMPAIGN
sloggi Donates RM25,000 To Local Environmental NGO Partner, TrEES, To Increase Rainforest Conservation Awareness Efforts
sloggi - renowned for its unique ability to create characteristic underwear that is both eco-friendly and fashionably fun to wear – officially announced its 2011 Love World campaign at Sungai Tekala Recreation Forest, Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor, in a bid to increase conservation efforts and awareness of this magnificent Park.
This conservation initiative echoes the framework of sloggi’s global environment protection footprint. Globally, sloggi and the SensitivEcoSystem® Project (by the Italian manufacturer of Sensitive® Fabric used in sloggi’s Love World collection) have partnered with the World Land Trust™—a non-profit organization that protects remote regions between Brazil, Paraguay and North East Argentina - to save the threatened rainforest in the Yaboti Biosphere, which is home to many unusual plants and animal species, at risk of extinction. Therefore, with every one meter of Sensitive® Fabric (manufactured using eco-friendly processes) used in the Love World collection, one square meter of the rainforest in the Yaboti Biospehere will be saved.
Following the brand’s global initiative, locally, sloggi announced a partnership with local environmental NGO – Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES) – as part of its home efforts to help conserve and protect Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor including the forest park’s habitats, wildlife and eco-systems within.
With this partnership, sloggi has also pledged to donate RM25,000 from profit sales of its Love World collection to TrEES. Funds donated by sloggi will go towards developing a new interactive digital programme supporting youth activities under TrEES’ Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor environmental protection initiative called “Communities for Conservation.”
sloggi’s Love World media launch event saw the gathering of members of the press, environmentalists, bloggers, TrEES and the Forestry Department of Selangor, all lending a hand to make a difference. They were given native trees to plant in an allocated area as an effort to invest in the future for our younger generation whilst nurturing the local biodiversity. The groups were then taken on an educational forest trail walk to further increase their understanding and knowledge on the importance of the forest to our lives and the pressures it is facing today.
